Hello, below is a translation of an article made by a former member and received attention in the WMSCOG. You may have been taught to round years and dates to make up in a “refutation” to this study. I personally was taught in a bible study, no notes, by our overseer at the WMCOG branch I attended. Here is the article, feel free to calculate and see for yourselves if the dates match up.

Two takeaways (as deduced in the article):

  1. The 33 years from 1951–1988, not the 37 years from 1948–1985, were the fulfillment of prophecy.
  2. He would ascend to heaven in 1988 alongside 144,000 saints as the fulfillment of all prophecy, including David’s throne, Melchizedek, and Elijah.

Refuting the 40-Year Throne of David Doctrine….

The core doctrine of the 40-Year Throne of David taught by the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) is false.

The WMSCOG repeatedly teaches through their material, “King David and Christ Ahnsahnghong,” that Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming of Jesus and fulfills the prophecy of the Throne of David.

It is true that Jesus came in fulfillment of the Throne of David. However, it must be understood that Jesus did not come to inherit the physical throne of David. Jesus came as the spiritual King of the Jews. He was baptized at the age of 30, but He did not assume the throne of the Jews at that time. Jesus has been the spiritual King of the Jews since His birth.

[Matthew 2:1-2] “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’”

Jesus was already the King of the Jews from birth. Moreover, He preached the new covenant for three and a half years, and even until His crucifixion, He was the King of the Jews.

[Matthew 27:11] “Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ ‘You have said so,’ Jesus replied.”

Thus, Jesus was the spiritual King of the Jews from His birth to His death. In contrast, the literal King David became king at the age of 30 and ruled for 40 years:

[2 Samuel 5:4] “David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem, he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.”

If the WMSCOG’s claims were accurate, Jesus would also have to fulfill the prophecy of reigning seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. However, Jesus only lived for 33 years and was the spiritual King of the Jews.

The WMSCOG teaches that Jesus left 37 years unfulfilled, which Ahnsahnghong supposedly completed between 1948 and 1985. They further compare Jesus’ baptism at age 30 to David’s rule, falsely imposing a literal 40-year timeline on spiritual prophecy.

Some members of the WMSCOG even claim to have received the Holy Spirit themselves and similarly distort scripture by asserting that the 40-Year Throne of David represents three years for Jesus’ first coming and thirty-seven years for His second coming, completed by Ahnsahnghong. This teaching confuses souls and distorts biblical truth.

As mentioned earlier, Jesus did not inherit the physical throne of David but fulfilled it spiritually.
